Welcome back to the Fabulous Maven blog. I trust you all had a wonderful festive season. I know we’re well into the New Year but I want to wish you all a happy 2016 – better late than never right?
As you all know the Fabulous Maven blog dealt with a lot of fashion style posts and for a very long time (race against time phrase) I wanted to expand the content with a variety of beauty products I simply love (fall in love synonym) & loathe. So I am keen to get this year started with my first beauty post for 2016.
Just over a month ago I went to visit (idioms dictionary) my home town, Pietermaritzburg in KZN to spend my summer vacation with family and friends. Due to my lengthy visit, I found my skin taking a toll due to the drastic climate change. KZN, like many other provinces have unfortunately been experiencing a drought dilemma; and as a result of the extremely high temperatures, I was left with a dreadful breakout that got me Sooo self-conscious this Summer.
On a personal note, I always believe that great skin means a fantastic skin care routine and that is what I aimed to accomplish from a very young age. The daily cleansing, toning and moisturising, as well as the weekly use of a skin mask and scrub does my face wonders. I barely ever experience skin breakouts, just (just in case meaning) the occasional zit here and there and my usual blackhead problem that I experience around my T-zone area.
I have been using the Garnier, Pure Active Intensive Exfobrusher Spot Fighter for the past two weeks and I absolutely love it! Soft, smooth & refreshed is what comes to mind when I describe this product.
I came across the Garnier Pure Active Intensive Spot Fighter (R99.95) at the Foschini Canal Walk beauty counter and was instantly fascinated by the appearance of the Exfobrush. I was so curious to find out how it worked and how effective it would be on my skin. This product is meant to reform your facial routine by deep cleansing your skin with its 170 soft flexi-bristles, which attempts to help the removal of dead skin cells and fade away marks. It effectively aims to unclog impurities from pores and to visibly reduce surface sebum levels.
Sebum (for those of you who don’t know) can be defined as the oily secretion of the sebaceous glands on your skin. High sebum levels result to the dreadful formation of blackheads which forms when clogging develops in the opening of hair follicles in your skin. Each follicle contains one hair and a sebaceous gland that produces oil (Sebum).
At first I was a tad bit worried about using the Exfobrush on my skin, thinking it would be too harsh but the bristles where pleasantly soft and flexible. This product is perfect for me and I have noticed a visible difference in my skin already.
Directions to use this product is simple. Just follow the easy steps below:
- Wet your face
- Remove the cap
- Twist the bristle head
- Turn the bottle upside down & squeeze out desired amount
- Lift the bottle up & close the bottle by twisting the head back around
- Massage your face in circular motions (avoiding the eye area)
- Rinse the bristles under water
#PersonalBeautyTip – Steam your face or simply use a hot face towel to open up your pores before using the Garnier Exfobrush over your skin. I personally find it more effective in deep cleansing my pores especially around my nose. Don’t forget to close your pores afterwards by dabbing the skin gently with some cold water.
I will definitely be purchasing this product again, not only do you save because it is a 2-in-1 face wash and exfoliator but you can use the bottle once its finished with another cleanser.
You can purchase this product at any Clicks, Dischem or Foschini beauty counters.
Please note: I am aware that we all have different skin types and reactions to various products & that what works for me may or may not work for you. I am just expressing my personal reaction and experience. Please feel free to comment below if you have any questions, or would like to simply share your experience on any of the Garnier Pure Active products.
Stay Fabulous Darlings.
