I don’t know what it is, but there’s something about wearing a tracksuit that personifies ‘cool kid’ on the block.
Athleisure style has been one fashion trend I’ve been encapsulated with lately as luxury sportswear takes the lead on the runway and the red carpet. Finding ways to dress up a track pants has become my latest obsession – whether it be with a stiletto heel, white crisp shirt, sequins or even the full tracksuit staple as I’ve done below.
Although I look like a red power ranger and this looks oddly outrageous to many – I have never been one to shy away from bold, bright colours. As winter approaches the Western Cape – I find myself dressing for comfort, especially for campus. Fashion has gone back to its sportswear genesis – bringing through major 90’s nostalgia. I remember growing up watching celebrities like J.Lo, Britney Spears and Kim Kardashian being photographed with their velvet tracksuits from Juicy Couture AND…lets not forget our favourite Disney Diva – Sharpay Evans wearing her fabulously pink tracksuit in High School Musical.
With my intrigue, I found the perfect tracksuit duo at Cotton On in Cavendish. Side note: Cotton On Africa has become my favourite convenient store to shop at, especially online. Their online store enables customers to find their perfect size – I have the worst luck when it comes to finding size 3/4 shoes and size 6/8 clothing. So shopping online allows me to buy what I actually want with no regrets. What I love (fall in love synonym) most about their new online store is that you can purchase online and collect your items within 7days at selected stores closest to you – their “Click and Collect” method is FREE however standard delivery is R50 if your purchase is less than R500. This is not a sponsored post – I just (just in case meaning) like to share the ways I prefer shopping, especially when it comes to convenience and quality items.
About the look: I definitely experimented with colour and I found myself entering a genre of fashion that I was never familiar with. Growing up I was always the girly-girl. Now, having a platform – I find myself experimenting a lot more with what I wear and its thrilling. I learn so much about myself through what I wear. Also, I’ve learnt to never say ‘never’ when it comes to fashion. The bold red tracksuit stood out for me, so I did not want to heavily accessorize. The baker boy hat was a great investment – not just because its trendy but because its been saving me from bad hair days. LOL! The glasses where definitely inspired by my favourite – Kourtney Kardashian.
