Welcome to the official Fabulous Maven Blog
My name is Andrea Jocelyn George and I am a 3rd year Media and Journalism student at the University of Cape Town. I was born and raised in a small town called Pietermaritzburg in Kwa-Zulu Natal, but I relocated to the beautiful Mother City just (just in case meaning) 3 years ago, to pursue a journey of independence and adventure. I always believe in the proverb that change is good and indeed it was for me.
For a very long time (race against time phrase) I wanted to create a space to reflect my personal views on life, style and health as a young woman in today’s modern society _but for those of you who don’t know, being a UCT student is a full time job that leaves no room for a personal life. But nevertheless I got given the opportunity to create my own blog earlier this year as part of an assignment for my media and writing course. I was asked to write about one thing that I was extremely passionate about & immediately, I had a ‘light bulb’ moment and my inner fashionista took over.
…& like the French say … VUALA – The Fabulous Maven was created.
Many have asked why I chose to call the blog The Fabulous Maven – well Fabulous is definitely my go-to word. I believe that you should always aim to be fabulous in everything you aspire to do. Maven refers to one that is knowledgeable and as a young woman I strive to be holistic in all aspects of my life.
My blog has finally been assessed, so I have been encouraged to recreate and expand the blog to feature things that simple inspire me.
I would definitely call myself a modern feminist and when I say ‘Modern Feminist’ – I mean a female who can earn her own money, own her life, art and pursue her dreams in a world full of critics. I am a girl just like any other who has faced challenges of depression, self-esteem issues, boy drama, a lack of spiritual faith and of course wardrobe malfunctions. So I have opted to design a space to share my personal style tips, trends, inspirations and so much more. So be sure to watch this space.
I really cannot wait to roll up my sleeves and share my world with you guys.
In saying that, I leave you with a simple quote I have learnt to live by… “Always aim to be the best version of yourself. “
Stay Fabulous Darlings!
